Nastea en Georghe

Kregen we vorige week erg mooi nieuws mbt de jongens Vlad en Slavic, helaas hoorden we gisteren triest nieuws over Nastea en Georghe. Ze zijn gisteren opgehaald en naar een kindertehuis gebracht. Moeder zorgde niet voor de kinderen en drinkt er elke dag op los. Vader kijkt niet naar de kinderen om en hun oom die garant stond zodat de kinderen niet naar een kindertehuis hoefden, staat op het punt te vertrekken naar Moskou. Er is dus niemand die voor Nastea en Georghe zorgt en daarom zitten ze nu in een kindertehuis. Nastea en Georghes situatie was altijd heel schrijnend en vele malen zijn we langs geweest om ze eten en kleding te brengen en om even te kijken hoe het met ze gaat. Enkele weken terug hoorden we al geruchten dat de kinderen waarschijnlijk uit huis zouden worden gehaald maar nu is het dan toch echt gebeurd.
Heel erg triest om te zien dat een moeder elke dag dronken is en niet omkijkt naar haar kinderen en dat vader zijn kinderen gewoon in de steek heeft gelaten en alleen voor zichzelf leeft. Erg jammer als je ouders hebt die geen enkele hoop hebben of geen enkel motief zien om hun leven te beteren.

Laten we blijven bidden voor Nastea en Georghe. 

Vlad and Slavic

Maybe you remember the story we wrote in our prayer letter in August 2014. We wrote about two small boys we met during an outreach in the north of Moldova: Vlad (7 years old) and Slavic (5 years old). The boys didn't have a happy family life. Both of the parents were drinking a lot to forget their situation, beating the boys and not looking after them the way it should. Also their grandfather, who was supposed to look after them when the parents would go out to drink, got drunk a lot and being afraid to get beaten, the boys would run away from home and spend as much time away from home as they could, hanging around on the streets by themselves, hungry and afraid.

Together with the German team, we gave the boys new clothes, shoes, food to eat, a Bible and a food parcel to take home. As we wrote in our prayer letter it was hard to leave the boys behind in their situation. But after we left, we continued to pray that God would take care of Vlad and Slavic. 

And last week we received good news! (And after seeing nearly every day so many hopeless and sad situations that do not seem to change, this news was giving us hope and courage to continue the work we do and not to give up! Situations still can change and there is still hope for children living in such dramatic situations.)

So we heard that Vlad and Slavic at the moment are living with a christian family. Their parents left them and a family who already takes care of two other children that do not have a home, opened their house for these two boys too. So now Vlad and Slavic are well dressed, live in a warm house, have daily food, are going to school and receive the care they need. Praise God for this change and praise God for the family that takes care of the boys. We pray that Vlad and Slavic will adapt well to their new situation and may God bless them and protect them!

Of course, there can be said many things about the parents who abandoned the boys. But may God have mercy on them too. Clearly they don't have any hope in life and are lost. May they find hope for the future in Him!

Lozova - Church building?

This week we are praying for God's special guidance in finding the right place for a future church in the village Lozova.

We are looking for either an empty building which can be transformed into a church or a piece of land on which we will be able to construct a church.

We would appreciate your prayers a lot!

The church in Micleuseni

A new year started for the church in Micleuseni and yesterday evening, after we evaluated how the church has been doing in 2014, we prayed that God would help each member to be actively involved in all the different church events. May God bless each member with courage, strength and boldness to share the Gospel.

Weekendje in Paicu

Zowel Spiridon als ik hebben allebei in het dorp Paicu gewerkt, in het zuiden van Moldavie. Spiridon in 2008 en ik in 2009-2010. Toen we in Chisinau woonden gingen we zo nu en dan nog weleens langs en zo bleef het contact. Sinds we in Micleuseni wonen komt het er maar niet van om een bezoekje te brengen, druk met allerlei bezigheden hier, is het iets lastiger om zomaar een paar dagen naar Paicu te gaan. Maar na vele keren te zijn uitgenodigd hebben we dan nu eindelijk ons woord gehouden en zijn we een weekendje naar Paicu geweest. Het was goed om oude bekenden weer te zien en het was erg leuk om te zien hoe de kinderen zijn opgegroeid en hoe velen van hen nog steeds in de kerk komen en actief meedoen in de dienst.

Op zaterdag avond was het familie avond en vanuit 4 verschillende dorpen waren er rond de 20 families naar de kerk gekomen. Het was bemoedigend om te zien hoe sommige families naar de kerk waren gekomen die anders eigenlijk nooit naar de kerk komen. Het programma bestond uit enkele liederen, een paar spelletjes (zie foto's hieronder: welk stel schilt het beste 1 appel met z'n tweeen?) en daarna was er een studie over communicatie in de familie en trouw zijn aan elkaar.
