Back from our last outreach of this summer....

Last Monday we came back home from our last outreach this summer. Together with a team from England we served for 6 days in the town Ceadar Lunga. There was a variety of activities we were involved in: in the morning kids programs, in the afternoon painting in the church for the ladies on the team and for the guys helping with constructing the foundation of a new orphanage the church started to build, in the evening we delivered food parcels to poor families or elderly. As the British people would say: we had a lovely time! And although it was (and still is) quite hot in Moldova, we have been busy and helped out wherever we could. May God continue to work in the lives of the people we met, talked with and worked with!

Little Andrei came to the program with his 2 older sisters and his older brother. Not sure how much he enjoyed the kids program but for sure, he enjoyed the banana he got! Later that week we visited his family with a food parcel and we got to know his parents too. His father Vitalie had been an active believer but got disappointed in his faith and let go of Christianity. We encouraged him to be honest with God about the way he feels, to keep praying and reading his Bible and to start going to church again. At the end of the visit we prayed together for Vitalie and his family. After we had prayed, Vitalie himself prayed out loud and asked God to forgive him of letting go and asked for His help to make a new start again. It was good to see that a simple visit, was used to motivate Vitalie to think again about his personal relationship with his Heavenly Father. May God bless Vitalie and his family!

Avonturen in Lozova....

Afgelopen week, op donderdagmiddag, waren Spiridon en ik gevraagd om te komen helpen tijdens een kinderprogramma dat georganiseerd zou worden in Lozova (1 van de plaatsen waar we in het najaar aan de slag willen gaan). Enthousiast gingen we op weg en we hadden ruim 100 kinderen, veel ouders en andere dorpbewoners tijdens de duur van het programma. Het was een drukte van belang en het mooiste was natuurlijk dat iedereen Gods liefde heeft kunnen zien en ook over Hem hebben kunnen horen. Aan het eind van het programma werden alle kinderen uitgenodigd om zondagmiddag om 3 uur opnieuw te verzamelen op het voetbalveld en dan zou er weer een kinderprogramma georganiseerd worden.....

( er werd niet bijgezegd wie dit programma ging organiseren...maar je voel het al aankomen, he?)

Zondagmiddag: Spiridon en ik waren 's ochtends naar de kerk geweest in Micleuseni en aan het eind werd ons gevraagd of we 's middags naar Lozova wilden gaan want ze hadden niemand anders gevonden. Oke, vol goede moed gaan we op weg....
We komen op het voetbalveld en ja hoor, rond de 100 kinderen en een paar ouders wachten al op ons. We hebben verder geen speelmateriaal bij ons dus uit de losse pols beginnen we wat spelletjes te organiseren....we zijn misschien 15 minuten bezig en wie komt er statig op ons aanlopen? De Orthodoxe priester en zijn gevolg! Oeps! Er wordt ons gevraagd of we officieele toestemming hebben om kinderprogramma's te organiseren en wie we wel niet denken dat we zijn en hier doen! De discussie wordt steeds uitgebreider en uitgebreider....vooral meneer de priester springt van de hak op de tak en weet alles zo te draaien dat hij degene is die goed voor "zijn schapen" zorgt en hij is een afgezant van God dus gelieve niet in discussie met hem te gaan of hem tegen te spreken....
Hij belt de politie en ook de burgemeester maar die nemen beide niet op....helaas voor hem....
Na een 20 minuten praten, hebben we besloten om te gaan want ja, het plezier van de kinderen was voorbij en verder konden we toch niets bereiken. De priester roept ons na dat hij hoopt dat het de laatste keer is dat hij ons ziet...
Ik vrees van niet maar we bidden dat hij de Waarheid zal leren kennen ipv in leugens te leven en deze ook aan anderen voor te houden.

Morgen gaan we weer op stap met een team voor een paar dagen en dit keer hopen we geen aanvaringen te hebben met orthodoxe priesters maar onze grootste uitdaging (iig voor mij) is het feit dat het een russisch sprekend gedeelte is vam moldova waar we heen gaan dus dat wordt effe bikkelen....1 ding is in ieder geval duidelijk: ik zal kort van stof zijn!!!

We look back upon a blessed time in the north of Moldova! With a great team we peddled from village to village and shared Gods Love and His Message of Hope with many children, elderly and adults. We saw how God blessed the works of our hands. He guided us and we handed out many Bibles to children, their parents and elderly. Praise God for the last outreach but lets also pray that many of the people who heard His Words of Salvation will turn to Him! Below some pictures of the last 10 days on the river Nistru:

Fellowship time in the morning

By "coincidence" we visited Borea and Tanea, a family without hope who desperate needed help. Their house is broken, Tanea is blind and also Borea his health is weak. We were able to give them a food parcel and we made sure that Tanea could go and see a doctor so she can receive the right documents, with which she can apply for a small pension from the state.

De dag na de outreach....

Na een goede 12 dagen met een team op stap te zijn geweest, kwamen we aardig vermoeid, zongebruind en klaar-om-een-douche-te-nemen, thuis. Maar het was voor ons nog geen tijd om uit te rusten want.....
twee vrienden uit Micleuseni, Gheorghe en Lena gingen trouwen en ze hadden gevraagd of we hun bruiloft konden leiden. Dus aan de slag maar weer! Spiridon leidde de bruiloft en praatte alles aan elkaar en ik had de belangrijke taak om foto's te nemen en zie hieronder het resultaat:

Holiday versus Outreach

While I was taking a small holiday break with my friend Rianne in NL, Spiridon was paddling hard at the river adventure outreach. Both of us had a blessed time but we are happy to be together again! Now we have a couple of days in Chisinau together and after that it is time again to pack our bags, gather our team and go on another outreach!
