10 years / 10 jaar

Today it is 10 years since I left Holland and moved to Moldova. Many memories and experiences. I praise God for His protection, provision and guidance. I want to thank all of you for your faithfulness in praying and supporting. May God continue to work in us and through us.

Vandaag is het 10 jaar geleden dat ik Nederland verliet en naar Moldavie verhuisde. Veel ervaringen en herinneringen rijker. Ik dank God voor Zijn bescherming, voorziening en leiding. Ik wil jullie bedanken voor de trouwe steun en gebeden. Moge de Heer in ons en door ons blijven werken.

Opnieuw kerst / Another Christmas

Morgen is het opnieuw kerst in Moldavie. In de afgelopen weken hebben we verschillende families bezocht met voedselpakketten. We zagen veel dronkenschap, leegte, viezigheid, kou, hopeloosheid en neerslachtigheid. Tijdens de bezoekjes hadden we de gelegenheid om te vertellen wat nu eigenlijk de ware reden voor het kerstfeest is. We hopen en bidden dat dit weekend inderdaad de geboorte van de Here Jezus zal worden gevierd en dat de mensen in Moldavie hoop, blijdschap en vrede zullen vinden in Hem.

Vandaag is in de stad van David voor jullie een Redder geboren. Hij is de Messias, de Heer.

Tomorrow it is again Christmas in Moldova. In the last weeks we have visited different families with food parcels. We saw a lot of drinking, dirt, emptiness, cold, hopelessness and depression. During the visits we had the possibility to share about the real reason for the Christmas Celebration. We hope and pray that this weekend truly the birth of our Lord and Savior will be celebrated and that people in Moldova will find hope, joy and peace in Him.

Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.

Brandhout / Firewood

Eind van deze week worden er temperaturen van -17 C verwacht.
End of this week we expect the temperature to drop till -17C. 

Het nieuwe jaar is gestart en 1 van de eerste dingen die ons te wachten staat is het uitdelen van brandhout. Tot nu toe werd er nog niet echt gekapt in de bossen en was er moeilijk aan hout te komen maar ze zijn inmiddels begonnen met kappen dus kunnen ook wij aan de slag. We willen jullie vragen om mee te bidden voor het uitdelen van het brandhout. Bid voor wijsheid bij het verdelen en dat de mensen die we helpen open zullen staan om te horen over Degene die dit mogelijk heeft gemaakt.

The new year started and one of the first things to do is to deliver firewood. Until now they did not yet chop wood and so it was difficult to purchase wood but now they started in the forest and so we also can start. We would like to ask you to pray for the firewood delivery. Please pray with us that we will be able to reach out to those who are truly in need and that they are also open to hear about the One who provided the wood for them.

Kerst / Christmas in Lozova & Micleuseni

Onze kerst begon op zaterdagavond met het zingen van kerstliederen langs de deuren. We hadden ons opgesplitst in twee groepen en onze groep begon in het met sneeuw bedekte Huzum. Veel mensen zaten al te wachten en waren klaar om te luisteren naar liederen over de geboorte van Jezus.

Our Christmas started on Saturday evening with the singing of Christmas carols from door to door. We made two groups and our group in snow-white Huzum. Many people were waiting for us and ready to listen to songs about Jesus birth!

Op zondagochtend waren we aanwezig in bij de kerstviering in Micleuseni en als familie hadden we zelfs ook een kleine bijdrage;)

On Sunday morning we attended the Christmas celebration in Micleuseni and as a family we even had a small contribution;)

Op zondagmiddag om 13 uur begonnen we de eerste kerstviering in Lozova. Er waren rond de 40 mensen en 20 kinderen aanwezig. We begonnen met het zingen van twee kerstliederen en daarna was er tijd voor gedichtjes, meer kerstliederen, en de tieners hadden een toneelstukje over de herders in het veld. De kerstviering sloot af met een preek over: wat wij kunnen geven aan koning Jezus.
Bij de uitgang kregen alle mensen een kerstpakket en alle kinderen een schoenendoos vol verassingen. Buiten stond de volgende groep mensen al te wachten en om 15 uur begonnen we aan de tweede kerstviering. Dit keer waren er rond de 20 mensen en 10 kinderen.

On Sunday afternoon at 13 hour we started the first Christmas Celebration in Lozova with around 40 people and 20 kids. From the beginning we sang all together several Christmas carols and after that there was time for poems, more carols and also the teenagers presented their skit about the shepherds in the field. The celebration finished with a preaching about what we can offer to King Jesus. As the people left they all received a Christmas present and the children received a shoebox full with surprises. Outside the next group of people was waiting to enter the church and at 15 hour we started the second celebration. This time around 20 people and 10 children were present.

We bidden dat het goede nieuws van Jezus geboorte in de harten van de mensen zal blijven en dat niet vergeten zal worden waarom Hij kwam.

We pray that the Good News of Jesus Birth will remain in the hearts of the people and that not will be forgotten why He came.
